It has been an incredible experience to be a part of Team GB at the Masters World Championships in Japan. This is the first time that the championships were held in Asia at the Ariake Centre in Tokyo. Only one age group - the 45s - played with 47 teams participating across the men's and women's competitions.
The GB W45 team was seeded 6th and we beat Switzerland and Argentina in the group stages. We then won a crucial match against Spain in the quarterfinals - both the singles matches and the doubles went to 3 sets with GB winning the doubles in a championship tiebreak 12-10 after being match points down. It is the first time we have ever beaten Spain, so this was a moment to savour. We lost in the semis to a strong German team and then went on to beat Japan for 3rd place. Team GB won the bronze medal behind the US and Germany, which is an incredible feat.
This is the second medal I have won for Team GB; the first was in 2022 in Portugal. I had the most amazing time with my teammates, both on and off the court, and we made some fantastic memories which I will always cherish. It was also fun competing against players from all over the world, making new friends and reconnecting with old ones.
