It has been a summer full of competitive tennis. It started with the British Open Masters Clay Court Championships in Bournemouth where I won the W45 singles and finished runner up in the W45 doubles.
Next up was the Ealing Lawn Tennis Club summer tournament. Due to the awful weather on finals day, we started on the grass and finished indoors. My 3 boys were ball kids and got to watch my singles and doubles matches while ball boying the matches.
This was followed by the o35's county cup at Eastbourne. The weather played havoc once again, so we ended up playing Fast 4 sets for the first time ever. Fortunately, Middlesex won Group 2A, beating Essex, South Wales and Hertfordshire, so we will be in the top division next year. It was great catching up with so many friends and getting to explore Eastbourne on the first day when play was cancelled.
Finally, I played the British Masters Closed Grass Court Champions at Wimbledon for the first time. The highlight was practising with my doubles partner on Court 3, one of the show courts, and having access to all the player areas. It was so special playing at this amazing location with my family there to support.
